2026 US Open Recap & Fall Tennis in Clairemont

The 2026 US Open wrapped up in New York with Alexander Zverev and Elena Rybakina taking home the singles titles.

Zverev defeated American Ben Shelton in four sets to win his first US Open title and his second Grand Slam title of the year. It capped a strong tournament for Zverev, who reached the final without dropping a set after the second round.

Shelton also had one of the standout runs of the tournament. He defeated defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in a five-set quarterfinal that finished at 3:33 a.m., the latest finish in US Open history. He followed that with a win over Frances Tiafoe to reach his first Grand Slam final.

In the women’s draw, Rybakina defeated two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka in three sets to capture her first US Open title. The win capped an impressive comeback after an Achilles injury forced her to retire from Cincinnati just a few weeks before the tournament. She finished the US Open as the new world No. 1.

Back in San Diego, our Fall Session is underway at Point Loma, and our Clairemont classes are getting ready to start.

Our Clairemont classes begin September 30 at Cadman Park, and beginners and returning students are welcome. Junior classes are available on Wednesdays and Thursdays, along with an Adult Intro class.
